Film screening and conversation with social anthropologist Lynn Kohli – How is trauma passed down through generations, and in what ways do individual family stories carry the weight of history? Join us for a screening of two short films delving into intergenerational struggles, trauma, and resilience in Iran and Armenia. Following the screening, filmmaker Lynn Kohli will engage in a conversation with her colleague Afsar Sonia Shafie. Afsar Sonia Shafie’s documentary «City Walls – My Own Private Tehran» (2006) tells the compelling story of her family in Iran, highlighting the traumas stemming from societal norms and their enduring effects on multiple generations of women. In the animated film «Armat» (2022), Élodie Dermange embarks on a journey to uncover her Armenian heritage, tracing her family’s migration history through the passage of a cherished wardrobe across generations.
